How does Teletag work?

The Metaphor

I grew up in a small town of 700 people and if anyone needed to call my father and let him know I was acting like a fool, they new him and had no problem making a call. Teletag is a system created to make every community, no matter how large or small, a small town of 700 people.

Teletag Removes Anonymity

According to Ann M. Brewer in Road Rage: What, Who, When, Where and How?, "Drivers feel anonymous in their vehicles and consequently behave differently in a driving context compared with a non-driving one." People are more likely to drive aggressively if they feel anonymous or do not feel accountable in their car. The Teletag service creates driver accountability through the use of the collected incidents by organizations, and notifying family members and/or others using Teletag's notification services.

The Community

TeleTag is a national driver safety program in which every family with young drivers can benefit. Any driver can report bad driving at any time by calling:

and then answering four (4) questions:
  1. What city and state are you currently driving?
  2. What is the license plate of the car you are reporting?
  3. What is the license plate state?
  4. Describe what happened in your own words.
Done! The call takes less than two (2) minutes, providing a safe, quick and effecient way of allowing your community help make your child safer.

Every Call Matters

Teletag transcribes the call for accuracy and matches the incident with registered vehicles within the various Teletag Safety Programs. If the car has been registered with the Teletag Signal! Service (which is part of the teenage driver safety program), notifications are sent out so that immediate action can be taken. On average 300 near-misses occur before a fatal accident. Any information that can be provided to parents to help train their young drivers could mean the difference between life and death.
